Athletic Training 101

Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic trainers in Nebraska must pass the Board of Certification examination and be licensed by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Service to legally practice in Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Athletic Trainers’ Association, has forged a relationship with Sport Safety International, to help introduce “Concussion Wise™” an online concussion education program designed for athletic trainers, coaches, parents, athletes and other health care professionals.
