On April 17th, 2026, President Denise Marshall, Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Cassie Metzner, and Governmental Affairs Committee member Stacy Dahlkoetter presented Senator Roundtree with the Friends of Athletic Trainers Legislative Recognition. Senator Roundtree sponsored LB736, the Athletic Trainer Compact Bill. The hearing with the Health & Human Services Committee (HHS) was on January 22nd, 2026. The committee approved to move the bill to the floor and was packaged with other bills as HHS Committee priority bill LB912. LB912 was introduced to the legislative floor on February 12th, 2026. LB912 was presented to Governor Pillen on April 10th. The Governor has five days excluding Sundays to decide what to do with bills. On April 14th, Governor Pillen signed LB912 into law! Senator Roundtree was instrumental in being a sponsor for the bill and a strong advocate to progress the Athletic Training Compact through legislation. The Athletic Trainer Compact needs 7 states to pass legislation into enactment before the compact will go into effect. Currently, South Dakota, Kansas, Kentucky, Alabama and Virginia have legislation enacted. You can monitor progress of the Athletic Trainer Compact HERE.
