Learning Objectives

Identify the status of the athletic training rules and regulations and discuss relevant updates specific to new skills provided by the Practice Act update.
Discuss pending legislation in Nebraska relative to AED’s in high schools and the impact it could have on athletic trainers and the schools they work in.
Identify areas of opportunity and concern about athletic trainers in the Operating Room and the current constraints within our practice act.
Introduce how Third Party Reimbursement can impact athletic trainers and how they practice in Nebraska.

Program Description

The presentation will give Nebraska athletic trainers a better vision of the objectives of the NSATA and how those objectives are trying to be met. It will also provide education on the bills that may be reintroduced into the legislation next year that could impact the athletic training profession. Finally, it will provide an update on the rules and regulations process at the legislative level.

Speaker Bios

Cassie Metzner, MA, ATC
Athletic Trainer
Bryan Health/Nebraska Orthopedic Center

Cassie is employed by Bryan Health/ NOC to provide coverage at Waverly High School. She has been an athletic trainer for 12 years and has been a Governmental Affairs Committee member for 5 years. During Cassie’s free time she enjoys spending time with her nephews, horseback riding, spending time with her dog, and working on the farm.


The target audience for this conference is certified athletic trainers, allied health care professionals and athletic training students.


The NSATA Summer Education Conference program includes Essential and Advanced level sessions.

The Nebraska State Athletic Trainers’ Association is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers.


Statements of Credit will be provided electronically after to the conference to each attendee who completes the following:
