NSATA Executive Board Confidentiality Agreement and Other Duties Policy
Executive Board members must avoid conflicts of interest between their role as an NSATA volunteer and their personal or professional interests. When necessary, members must declare a conflict of interest and abstain from both discussion and voting on any matter in which they have a personal, professional, or business interest. A conflict of interest is defined as any social, professional, or economic relationship with individuals or matters at hand that could affect one’s judgment and result in an outcome not in the best interest of the NSATA and/or the Executive Board.
Serving as a volunteer within the NSATA Executive Board is a distinguished level of service to the association. This policy is designed to identify, mitigate and prevent conflicts of interest before they occur, ultimately protecting both the Executive Board member and the association.
Executive Board members should not hold volunteer positions with other external athletic training or sports medicine organizations, associations, or societies during their NSATA term unless disclosed and approved by the Executive Board. This restriction does not include service within Strategic Alliance partners, nor does it apply to service on state regulatory boards (e.g., the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Athletic Training Board, or the Interstate Compact Commission).
If a conflict of interest arises during an Executive Board member’s term of service, it must be disclosed immediately to the NSATA Executive Board. The Executive Board will determine the appropriate course of action. Exceptions may be considered by the NSATA Executive Board on a case-by-case basis.
Confidentiality
All Executive Board members are entrusted with access to sensitive and confidential information through their service to the Nebraska State Athletic Trainers’ Association (NSATA). To preserve the integrity and trust of the organization, all members of the Executive Board are required to adhere to the following confidentiality expectations:
- Confidential Information includes, but is not limited to, internal discussions, member information, personnel matters, and any other information not publicly available.
- Executive Board members shall not disclose, discuss, or share confidential information outside of official NSATA business or with individuals not authorized to receive such information.
- Confidentiality obligations continue after the conclusion of an Executive Board member’s term of service.
- Breach of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Executive Board.
By agreeing to serve on the NSATA Executive Board, members acknowledge their understanding of and commitment to uphold this Confidentiality Agreement as a condition of their service.
